Update on the WAR [Dec. 4th, 2008|06:42 pm]
brucius
Right, got the DirectX problem sorted, thanks for the advise it was most helpful. However being over one hurdle I am into another, the graphics/video card in the computer is not strong enough to run the game, I am invesitgating whether or not an external graphics card exists and if does that should sort that problem out and I'll be back on track.

WAR [Dec. 3rd, 2008|10:27 am]

Righty, a fair few of you people play Warhammer Online, I just got a spanky new computer (thanks honey) and I can't get WAR to run, I think it is a directx problem. Vista runs with Dx10 and I think WAR needs Dx9 ? Has anyone else had this problem and a solution to it. I already sent an email to WAR through the help form on the webpage, I am not expecting much.

I think worst case scenario I might get the machine fixed up with XP instead of Vista ?

Outdoorness [Jul. 29th, 2008|11:33 pm]
brucius
I have wanted to increase the amount of time I spend outdoors lately, I swam in the sea t'other day, for about twelve seconds, could have been a pro glasscutter when I got out, nasty.

Seeing as I live so close to the wicklow way and what not I'd regularly intend to go walking along it, but truth be told I am fierce lazy and watching Ray Mears walk around scenic spots is much easier.

I have wanted to buy a kayak since I got back from Australia, but have managed to spend about €5000 on smokes instead, I did buy some books on building my own kayak, which I intend to use 'when I get time'

When I do manage to motivate myself into leaving the house I get an enormous sense of well being so I think I'll have to work on kicking myself out of a lazy attitude towards exercise and things not involving screens.

Holidays [Jul. 29th, 2008|12:18 pm]

Loving the old builder's holidays, up at a very uncivilized noon after spending the weekend watching movies and hanging out. Went out here in Arklow Friday last, ended having just enough self control to stop myself from signing karaoke. On Saturday we went out in Dublin, in a spot called the old mill. Since then I have been watching movies and playing games.

We watched In Bruge, which despite starring Colin Farrell was actually very funny and a little tragic. I also got stuck into 10,000 BC, which I had wanted to watch for a while, I may as well have saved myself the bother and watched apocalyto again, due to the fact they are almost exactly the same film, give or take 9000 years and the atlantic ocean.

Off to Achill this Friday and Saturday, may be returning on Sunday, not entirely sure yet, hopefully I'll practice some not drowning off the back of a seven foot floaty board, but I'll be sure to enjoy getting dublinafied by the other summer visitors down there either ways.

Online games [Jul. 13th, 2008|12:42 pm]

I was looking for settlers of Catan online t'other day and found this the game is called xplorers probably something to do with naming rights, but the rules are the same, I am a whisker away from having clocked up 24hrs on it.

I also started playing Travian it's a handy little village building game that I can check on during lunch at work and keep things tipping over. In a bit of rut with it at the moment though, I have not got enough resources to train more than about 4 or 5 soldiers, which I set it to do, then someone marches in with 30 soldiers, destroys my 5 and steals a load of my resources, leaving me back at square one. I have a cranny which hides resources which I am making more effective but it is taking ages.

I saw the WoW advert on tv the other day with Mr T claiming to be a nelf mohawk, but I just saw the one with Verne Troyer (Mini-me) as a mage, much better I think.

Stardust [Oct. 29th, 2007|11:09 am]

Saw stardust last night, it was great, won't be rushing to buy the DVD when it comes out, but glad I saw it. We went to the new cinema here in Arklow, which is smallish (but much bigger than bray where we used to go) it is clean and maybe because it started at 9:30 their was a lack of screaming children, all round pleasant experience.

Neil Gaiman's book for world book day is available for pre-ordering on Amazon for just a pound, such a very great idea. Get it here
